1 Painted Blue
A process of indigo blue dyeing, practised in India. The printer paints the pattern on the material by means of a small stick, or prints on the wooden hand blocks, using partly or wholly ferrous sulphate. The colour is developed by hanging the cloth in running water. This is called the brushed or painted blue and is still employed in India by native printers. -
